Harting dies peacefully in his home among friends

It's with great sadness I write that Trip Harting died this afternoon at about 4pm in his home in Los Angeles. As the time drew near, close friends gathered around him and stayed at his bedside for the final moments. He was surrounded by an enormous amount of love.
Two of his closest friends Lori Lauver, swb4lori@sbcglobal.net and Lois Yukins, loisyuki@msn.com will be handling the arrangements for services.
Donations to go towards a memorial service and his medical bills are being asked for and cane be made to:
Delora Lauver,
DVM Community Veterinary Center
10617 Burbank Blvd.
North Hollywood, CA 91607
And I hope that you will leave your comments and thoughts about Trip here on what has become his website, to continue it as a living tribute.
When Trip brought me into his room to say goodbye he said that he was so proud of what we had done together and hoped the documentary would help many people for years to come.

This is a loss not only to Trip's friends & family, but to the dressage community and the young riders that he has inspired.

I hope his passing was peacefull and that he is being greeted by a lovely dressage horse who will carry him on to his next journey.

Hi Stu,

I showed dressage for many years, and Trip was always my absolute favorite judge, and an inspiration to me both in dressage and in life. I have really been devastated to hear of his passing, and I just can’t quite get past the timing, just after your film was released, it seems like such a cruel twist of fate. But, I was always inspired by Trip’s incredibly positive attitude, and I hope that his terrific approach to life stood him in good stead in death as well. I know that you’re probably not ready to even think about it, but I was wondering what future plans were for the film, as I would be very interested to watch a screening.

Trip was a gifted judge, a talented rider, a giving insturctor and a very good friend he will be missed by many. I am thankful that in his lifetime I got the opertunity to get to know him and will miss his smile and his signature "THANKYOU" he gave to each rider that showed under him. THANKYOU TRIP and you will be missed greatly.
